I have taught Mathematics for over 30 years and led explorations for the Duke
of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme for 24 years. I have a professional qualification
in Hill Walking.
-
The explorations have generally involved older girls and have often been in the
UK. We have ventured further afield to Iceland, Andorra, Austria and the Faeroe
Islands.
-
I have used my particular interests in geology, history, birds and flowers and
have built up an intimate knowledge of the countryside. I have also acquired
the organisational skills involved in leading groups.
-
I am very interested in Britain’s heritage and welcome the opportunity to
introduce others to some of the wonderful sites in our country.
-
For the past 16 years I have led the History Department in a prestigious
independent school but my teaching career has extended over 30 years.
-
During this time I have taught secondary school pupils and part-time students
(aged 16-80 years!) and my aim has always been to give an overview of England’s
rich and varied past.
-
I have thoroughly enjoyed researching and visiting castles, cathedrals, stately
homes and archaeological sites in the West Country. This area lends itself to
pursuing other cultural interests too. Bristol and Bath have fine theatres and
regularly hold varied musical events.
-
Apart from organising many historical trips I have helped Myra on her D. of E.
explorations and especially enjoyed our visits to remote islands in Orkney and
Shetland.
The choice is yours.
We can build in your preferences ( enjoying the countryside, village inns, tea
shops, interesting historical sites, museums, various cultural activities ) and
produce a tailor-made tour for you. We are also more than capable of taking you
on walks which could vary from a stroll to a full day’s walk. You would only
have to bring your personal rainproof gear and walking boots. We can supply
rucksacks, binoculars, food and drink.
